DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations serves as a member of senior management and will be responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all of Settlement’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities. The Director will be coming at a very exciting time for the School. Settlement will be launching several new programs with national impact that will tie directly to work in the Marketing/PR Department and will include building partnerships, growing enrollment and raising visibility for the School.

The School is looking for a dynamic and energetic Director who will develop and implement a strategic communications plan that advances the mission and visibility of the School, that responds to the multiple streams of earned revenue, and that plays a key role in driving enrollment at its branches.

Assisted by the Publications and Social Media Manager, the Director will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the organization’s social media outlets as well as print and electronic materials. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of effective corporate or nonprofit marketing and public relations practices.

The Director of Marketing and PR works closely with all members of the Central Administrative staff, Branch staff, Faculty and Board.

Specific responsibilities for this full-time position include:
•In collaboration with senior management, help lead strategic vision for the institution
•Create and monitor annual and multi-year marketing plan
•Oversee market research and community demographic data for all six branches of the School and design marketing strategies accordingly with Branch staff and Branch Boards
•Produce and manage marketing budget in direct response to the goals of the institutional budget
•Oversee master communications plan to ensure coordination among all marketing functions
•Develop and manage a multi-channel public relations plan, including establishing relationships with local, regional and national print, broadcast, and trade press
•Collaborate with the Advancement Department to leverage press, social media and direct mail marketing to attract new institutional donors
•Leverage a broad range of social media to increase the School’s visibility and online presence
•Secure and manage media sponsorships and partnerships
•Lead Communications Committee of the Board

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, 5 years relevant experience, an interest in community music, and be able to develop strong working relationships with Settlement’s multiple constituencies. Candidates must have superb writing and presentation skills, knowledge of strategic marketing and planning, and experience with budget planning and management, media relations, publications production processes, and social media. Design experience is desired. The candidate must have the ability to manage advertising campaigns and effectively analyze market information and trends in order to project revenue and negotiate media and marketing partnerships. Candidates with a knowledge of Philadelphia and the non-profit arts community is a plus but not a requirement.
