SCA Americas is searching for an Event Intern. This position will be based out of our headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.
The Event Intern will be responsible for supporting SCA’s participation in the Volvo Ocean Race ( www.teamsca.com ). This person will report to the communications director and support our team as we prepare for multiple race stopover activities and events in two markets. As part of the SCA Americas team preparing for this multi-million dollar global sporting event, this role will provide event planning support to ensure flawless execution of activities for customers, the general public/visitors to SCA’s pavilion, PR events and more.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
•Build, maintain, and provide updates on spreadsheets focused on events, budgets, attendees, materials, itineraries and activity logistics
•Manage shipping, tracking and logistics of event materials
•Manage details of complex giveaways for attendee groups
•Interact with Sales & Marketing teams, multiple functions across the business and vendors to execute event logistics
•Provide general administrative support to event team as needed
•Post event follow-up and reporting
•Currently pursuing a University Degree in Communications, Liberal Arts or related field; currenly enrolled as a junior or senior preferred
•Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply
•Event and project management skills; proficient at executing multiple administrative aspects of event planning
•Strong computer skills, particularly Excel
•Strong interpersonal skills
•Report management; ability to maintain, digest and interpret reports in support of event logistics
•Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and manage several projects in a fast-paced environment; proactive in follow through and follow up
•Ability to work independently under instruction as well as in a team environment
•Ability to understand how individual responsibilities impact event activities and outcomes; sees the big picture of event goals and activities
•Can quickly get up to speed on new projects and is self-motivated; has ability to voice ideas, solutions and suggestions; foresight to proactively address issues
•TRAVEL: Possible travel to Newport, RI May 3-18, 2015
