HR Communications Specialist

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Communications Specialist for the Division of Human Resources. This position supports the Manager of Strategic Communications in all matters related to communications for the Division of Human Resources. Critical requirements include excellent writing skills and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. The candidate must be able to write quickly and in a business-appropriate tone, design print and electronic publications, handle multiple tasks under deadlines and pressure, and interact professionally with individuals at various levels. The position also includes some administrative duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with copywriting, proofreading, and editing for print, web, and electronic communications
  • Coordinate website content and design through a content management system (CMS) to ensure accuracy, usability, and consistency
  • Responsible for design, layout, graphics, proofing, preparation of files for print, and interaction with vendors for production and fulfillment of all communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, posters, emails, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate social media communications
  • Assist in promotional video production
  • Interact with internal and external clients and vendors as needed
  • Act as liaison with Human Resources Information Management on technical issues as needed
  • Perform general administrative tasks as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

–        Strong attention to detail and accuracy

–        Excellent written and verbal communications skills

–        Proficiency at the advanced level in Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

–        Working experience and proficiency, at the intermediate or above level, in desktop publishing on a PC computer system, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator

–        Working experience with a content management system (CMS) preferred

–        Working experience in HTML preferred

–        Demonstrated ability to accurately handle multiple tasks under deadlines and pressure

–        Ability to prioritize duties and adjust work schedule to meet deadlines independently

–        Ability to organize, manage, and complete projects under limited supervision

–        Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and work with persons at all levels in a diverse workforce

–        Strong interpersonal skills

–        Bachelor’s degree

–        Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the development of print and web communications materials
