Public Relations/Social Media Specialist

Responsible for the public relations, social media and event initiatives across the organization. Creates, manages, and implements PR/SM campaigns with the goal of enriching Weidel’s position within the public eye.
Duties:
• Writes and edits news releases, public service announcements, media advisories, digital media content, letters, and other publicity and promotional materials to support Weidel Corporate, our branch offices and Sales Associates
• Assists with media and public relations events including managing members of the media and photography/videography
• Publicizes and markets special events including annual sales recognitions, holiday celebrations and community support
• Initiates, executes and manages special community event involvement for corporate and branch offices
• Manages corporations presence on all social media platforms including (but not limited to) YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Vine, LinkedIn, etc
• Creates and updates content for its digital media applications, creates social media marketing campaigns for corporate, our branch offices and sales associates as needed
• Researches best practices and new applications in the field of social media to increase awareness and audience engagement
• Assists with internal communication, including developing and disseminating company-wide e-mails and other electronic communication, monitoring social media sites and ensuring communication of timely and accurate information
• Assists with the production of corporation publications such as brochures and newsletters, including writing and editing copy and proofreading; works with executive management to coordinate and produce messages to field and public; researches, monitors and implements, Web-based social networking and online public relations tools;
• Maintains strong relationships with media reps
• Related duties as needed and/or assigned
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in multi-media, communications, public relations or journalism
• Two years of experience in the field of public relations or multi-media
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
• Proficient in photography and videography, including editing and photo/video sharing software and platforms
• Solid knowledge of, and relevant experience using, online public relations tools, social media/networking applications, and online tools used to measure visibility of content
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and increase professional knowledge of the latest trends, practices, programs, and applications evolving in social media/networking
• Self-starter able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Note: This position requires flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends at any Weidel Corporate location or event.
