SR DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS
Responsible for directing and managing the communications to promote and protect the reputation of Fox Chase Cancer Center (including the American Oncologic Hospital and related entities), which is part of Temple University’s healthcare enterprise. Responsible for ensuring that communications initiatives are strategically developed, implemented and delivered in the most effective manner to key targeted audiences, using all proven and/or promising newer communications channels within the electronic arena. Also, responsible for the development and targeted distribution of executive communications, crisis communications, internal communications, publications, digital/social media messaging, as well as event-planning/organization for the major FCCC-related programs. Will leverage his/her knowledge and expertise about medical research, science communications, hospital operations, faculty and/or medical-staff needs, employee-engagement, and community relations to enhance the communications efforts. Ensures all messages support and are aligned with entity-specific and TUHS-Corporate communications activities and goals, as well as supportive of Marketing, Human Resources, Institutional Advancement functions, Goverment Relations and Technology Transfer initiatives.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 5 years experience in a management role required. Prior experience at an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center or academic medical center preferred.
Other skills: Working knowledge of translational research (preferably cancer), research protocols and processes (including preclinical and clinical), peer-reviewed publications, professional oncology societies and major annual meetings (ASCO, AACR, etc.), as well as hospital operations, and healthcare trends/finances required
