Communications Account Manager – Philadelphia, PA

Our team is growing and we’re looking for someone to grow with us! Grimm & Grove Communications is looking for a communications consultant to help our team manage accounts on a long-term basis. Specifically, we need a communications account manager with 8+ years experience with an expertise in public relations, communications, and project management.

We are looking for a detail oriented candidate who can multitask and work in a deadline oriented environment. The position will have a dual role in both account management and execution. Client interaction includes coordinating and attending regular in-person meetings and/or conference calls, and creating presentations and reports.

Our staffing model is made up of subcontractors that work with us on an hourly basis. Our model provides the opportunity to work remotely, flexibility in work style/hours, and the chance to work on interesting, exciting accounts while still having the fun of working in a team environment. This role requires this person to be self-motivated, organized, and a strategic thinker who can concept, work independently and be organized to execute day-to-day at their own initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Relations
• Create and implement a PR communication plan for the client and execute the plan
• Create and pitch media stories to positively tell the story of the client brand
• Consult with our clients on public relations issues they might encounter through their own marketing campaigns
• Release information to counter negative publicity and handle crisis and emergency communications
• Identify and secure strategic speaking opportunities for clients
• Identify and secure relevant awards for clients
• Track digital metrics across all channels to capitalize on areas where we attract the most interest and to develop those where we haven’t yet engaged our audience

Strategy
• Advising clients on their overall business and communications strategies
• Building relationships with client leadership that enable successful execution of creative and needed communications tactics
• Evaluating, prioritizing and predicting clients needs and having a clear understanding of what PR successes mean to their bottom line
• Staying on top of the latest trends and techniques that not only affect the PR industry, but also our clients’ businesses

Project Management
• Having a clear understanding of client budgets and deadlines, and meet both regularly
• Delivering thorough, detailed and relevant project management updates to clients
• Managing other team members to ensure that client needs are being satisfied
• Managing clients to ensure they meet media and project deadlines; proactively asking questions to ensure they have what they need

Material Development
• Developing press releases, media alerts, bylined articles, blogs and status updates
• Contributing to the development of materials generated by other team members through proofreading for content, grammar, spelling and structure
• Develop advertising and marketing communications material

Research
• Researching clients competitors, industries, trends, influencers and media targets every day to identify opportunities
• Utilizing all available resources to find data or solve problems/issues

Media Relations
• Writing press releases
• Developing strong and meaningful media relationships for the benefit of clients
• Crafting pitches that generate media coverage for clients
• Communicating with reporters, editors and producers through email, phone and other methods
• Preparing clients for interviews and advising them on how to leverage opportunities
• Evaluating the impact of a media placement through business opportunities, website analytics, impressions, internal business use, etc.
• Fielding media questions and pitching stories to the media
• Preparing media kits and organizing press conferences

Skills & Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field
• 8+ years’ public relations experience, preferably in the marketing industry
• Extensive knowledge of public relations strategies and protocols
• Familiarity with digital marketing analysis tools
• Advanced social media marketing skills
• Proven track record of measurable successes in the field
• Willingness to stay on top of the latest marketing trends and developments
• Must be a confident communicator and presenter
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
• Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
• Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
• Possess the ability to keep information confidential
• Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude
• Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
