Reporting to the Vice Provost and Director of Libraries, the Director of Strategic Communications develops an overarching communications strategy and oversees communications efforts for the Penn Libraries. The primary role of this position is to develop, implement and maintain a strategic communications program to maximize the visibility of library services, resources, collections and projects, in support of the Penn Libraries strategic vision and programmatic priorities.
The Director devises strategy for the Libraries’ public relations, directs the design and production of all Libraries’ publications and digital signage; and leads the process for engaging, and supervising multiple contractors for photography, videography, graphic design and interactive development.
Further, the Director will lead a small team of professionals, which will include direct reports, contractors/ vendors; and, as needed the work of other Library and University communications-related staff and will work closely with the Penn Libraries’ administration in framing and creating a communications plan.
The Director has a high degree of visibility and serves as a primary contact and/or advisor for issues related to Penn Libraries’ communication efforts.
A Master’s Degree or more and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
