Manager of Campus Engagement

Ursinus College is striving to strategically position the college as a “First Choice” institution, and in doing so, continues to explore ways to engage the campus community in a more thoughtful and deliberate manner. The Manager of Campus Engagement (MCE) will work with internal partners to develop strategies that ensure the flow of communications across campus and among employees remains consistent, accurate and authentic. This individual will be successful at promoting organizational initiatives and progress while helping to manage and drive change.

This individual is exceptionally gifted at building relationships with partners across campus, working to ensure their offices share important institutional information in a proactive, strategic manner:
1.Will play a critical role in helping both administrative offices and academic departments develop communication plans that engage their teams and allow employees-faculty and staff-to be stronger ambassadors for the college. This requires that all faculty and staff understand the college’s strategic vision and the major campus-wide initiatives, both those that are underway and proposed. As such, this person is the strategic point-of-contact for Ursinus 150 and strategic planning communications.
2.The MCE will develop communication strategies at both institutional and department-level to ensure members of the community are regularly aware of organizational developments. The MCE will create communications and materials that are informative, timely, aesthetically pleasing, well-organized and designed for a positive employee experience.
3.This individual will be the liaison with the office of finance and administration, and particularly, human resources, become a subject-matter expert on their employee communications, ensuring they are written in a simple, digestible way. The MCE will partner with HR colleagues to develop content important to the day-to-day activities of college employees.
4.Develop internally focused marketing plans that celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of faculty and staff, building the college’s sense of community.
5.Develop an internal communications platform on which college-wide news and events are routinely shared and promoted. Evaluate private social media spaces that encourage collaboration and information sharing. Work with web development manager and IT colleagues to assess technical platforms to help disseminate information campus-wide.
6.Partner with the senior leadership and the president’s office to effectively communicate changes and institutional progress, both organizationally and programmatically. Work directly with the president’s office on key announcements, launches and strategic updates. Develop communications plans to create awareness and build support among faculty and staff that support the college’s long-term institutional goals.
7.Manage those aspects of the team’s editorial calendar that focus on internal announcements.
8.Assess and manage the college’s internal email policy and other means of communication.

•Confidently represent the communications team in from of other offices, ensuring that communications tactics are incorporated into their department-level strategic planning.
•Effectively manage communications in an integrated manner, across multiple platforms, seeking to unite the campus in a common vision and in support of Ursinus 150.
•Work closely with the creative services team to design internal communications-both print and digital-that are engaging and regularly disseminated to Ursinus employees.
•Work with human resources to establish an onboarding system that allows new faculty and staff to appreciate the Ursinus brand.
•Identify employee success stories and professional accolades, particularly those that align with the vision of the liberal arts.
•Position yourself as a valuable resource for internal audiences wishing to promote important news, events and activities that are primarily designed for faculty and staff.
•Be able to clearly and creatively translate the communications teams’ roles and responsibilities, acting as an ambassador for the team across campus.

Requirements and Qualifications
•5 years of experience, with a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or marketing.
•Appreciation for non-profit and/or higher education work.
•Hold an in-depth understanding of change management, or has worked with human resources to better understand how to drive change in an organization.
•Be able to be both a strategist and a tactician, developing plans while clearly understanding how to execute them.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office and web content management systems, with a willingness to incorporate digital strategies focused on internal audiences.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
•Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships.
•Possesses excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Expert knowledge of general office procedures, protocol and professionalism.
•Expert ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; adapt to changing priorities, manage time and meet deadlines.
